Like most of the album, it partly refers to former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett and his breakdown. However, unlike the Shine on You Crazy Diamond suite, Wish You Were Here is universal: it is directed at anyone who is missing a special person from their life. "
It is just about perfect. Each time I hear this song a different person comes to my mind. Recently, the list has just grown bigger.I got to know about the existence of a band called Pink Floyd only after I reached the campus here, where it is absolutely a craze. One of my most favourite numbers of the band is the above song, for the reason that I could directly relate to it. At the time I reached here, the list used to just consist of my parents and school friends depending on the mood I used to be in. After December 27, 2005 for a long time it used to be one person whom I will miss a lot in my life - A . Praveen Chander . This December the list just got a huge lot bigger . A lot of people with whom I used to spend my time with left the campus after finishing their academic commitments here. Now, I realise how time used to fly with them around. Also, this semester will probably be the last time I stay with many of my batchmates and again the list gets bigger.
I never know whether there will be just one special person, for me to think about. I would also never know whether I am ever remembered by many of these people whom I miss. But, I know that whenever I hear this song, I will always remember some of the best moments I have spent with these special people.
